This was my second time attending one of the Dubai private members club’s birthday bashes.
This time, to celebrate their 8th year, they threw a James Bond-themed shindig at their DIFC venue.
So I pulled out a dress I rarely have occasion to wear, a champagne coloured silky number I bought four years ago at a boutique in LA.
As was expected from attending in 2015, it was a pretty lavish affair with a red carpet rolled out at the entrance inside Gate Village and a makeshift tunnel reminiscent of of the one you see in the 007 intro.
In theme with the number of years they were celebrating, there was a glittery 008 display to greet guests.
Food-wise there was everything you could possibly need; a seafood station, dessert room, sushi bar, and Turkish Village serving up grilled lobster and meats outside on the terrace.
To keep us well watered, Grey Goose, Moet, and Patron were among sponsors. In between listing to a DJ and live singer with piano accompaniment, we watch a Martini glass dancer and snake charmer do their thing.
To round off the night we went around the corner to the JW Marriott Marquis to dance to a friend’s DJ set at Square. Yes we looked slightly out of place…
