I had a great time at the relaunch party for Littleblackdress.co.uk on Wednesday.
My friend Lami and I loved the Hotel Café Royal which hosted the event, and its gorgeous décor reminded me of a restaurant inside Paris’ Musee D’Orsay.
They had a rail full of the latest frocks at the back of the room where guests including Made In Chelsea’s Lucy Watson could have a gander. Unfortunately, she wasn’t in the mood for talking.
She was tired because she’d been doing interviews all day. I always think why not go home if you feel that way? If you’re caught off-guard in the street fair enough, but that was not the case.
Thankfully the lovely Giovanna Fletcher (an author who is sister of TOWIE’s Mario Falcone and wife to McBusted’s Tom Fletcher) plus Georgia Jones (a model married to McBusted’s Danny Jones) were happy to mingle.
Gi spoke to me about leaving baby Buzz with Tom’s parents for the evening even though he was back from touring and Georgia admitted how she was NOT ready for kids with her new spouse because she likes drinking wine too much! I love how honest northerners are. She was wearing the brand’s Jessica dress which costs £90.
We ate tasty canapés including savoury ‘Jammie Dodgers’ filled with cream cheese and crab meat wrapped in thin cucumber slices. All washed down with champagne.
When we left we were handed a goodie bag filled with Burt’s Bees lip gloss and hand cream, St Tropez instant glow body lotion, Balance Me eye cream, studded earrings by Krystal London and Bourjois silver glitter nail polish. They were also kind enough to give a £100 gift voucher to spend on the website as we left the party.
As I was waiting for my friend to come back from the loo I noticed Lucy spent a while deliberating about whether to take a canvas bag from the lovely ladies working the door as she had to ‘go on to another party’. Someone who appeared to be her assistant agreed to just grab the bag and send it to her to put everyone else waiting around out of their misery.
I think she needed to go to bed with all the talking she’d done that day not to another party.
Anyway, as many of their dresses are under that price I ordered the Marilyn (seen on the brochure cover) which is available from October 31.
Described as a “modern day twist on a classic Marilyn Monroe-inspired look”, it’s made with a double bonded scuba fabric and features sheer organza sleeves and hem detail. The fabric ensures the dress holds its shape and the leather cinched waist and prom style skirt design means pear shapes like me get a flattering silhouette.
Can’t wait for party season to get going!
